A workshop of Working Group 4 was held in Dhaka yesterday, September the 17th, at the office of Bangladesh Institute of Planners.
From Japan side, Dr. Ubaura and Dr. Murao of University of Tohoku, Dr. Hanaoka of Ritsumeikan University were present. From Bangladesh side, Mr. Abdul Malek Sikder (Senior Research Consultant at HBRI), Prof. Ishrat Islam and Prof. Shakil Ahmed of BUET URP, Prof. Akter Ahmed of Jahangirnagar University, and some officers of RAJUK Urban Resilience Project were present. Dr. Ubaura, the leader of the group, gave a brief overview of the project, and reflected on the role played by Group 4 till now. The Professors of BUET presented about an Urban Planning project in Mymensingh, which aimed at redesigning the city from the view point of DRR. Dr. Murao and Dr. Hanaoka presented about their recent researches, whereas the officers of RAJUK URP talked about their project. In the end Prof. Akter Ahmed presented about the possible areas of research for the Bangladesh side.
Official matters, such as the MOU between this project and Jahangirnagar University, were also discussed.
