What is "SATREPS"?
Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development

SATREPS is a JST and JICA program for research projects targeting global issues and involving partnerships between researchers in Japan and developing countries.

What is "TSUIB"?
TSUIB is a name of the project for  “Technical Development to Upgrade Structural Integrity of Buildings in Densely Populated Urban Areas and Its Strategic Implementation towards Resilient Cities in Bangladesh” which is a 5-year collaborative research project between Japan and Bangladesh adopted in the scope of SATREPS program. The University of Tokyo (Japan side) and Housing and Building Research Institute (Bangladesh side) are the representative of both countries. 
The aims of TSUIB are summarized as follows ;
  • To develop techniques for seismic evaluation and retrofit of buildings, and to propose efficient methods of upgrading their structural integrity.
  • To realize safe and secure Dhaka through development of earthquake resilience technology
